New geoscientists are frequently placed on drilling projects with very little understanding of the drilling operation. This course provides newly-qualified geoscientists with a fundamental understanding of a drilling operation so they can effectively contribute to the project.
An executive coach, advanced change practitioner, and experienced mining professional. Petro brings a rare blend of deep technical expertise, executive leadership experience, and human-centred coaching.
This one-day online course explains the rising importance of 3D geological modelling in modern mining and exploration, covering key data types, modelling techniques, software trends, and practical applications to help geologists build accurate, validated models for improved decision-making across the mining value chain.
Online Webinar, an opportunity to connect, engage and be part of the conversation.

Join the GSSA on 24 June 2026 for a CPD-accredited one-day course on AI in Geology. This focused program introduces core AI concepts, geoscience data readiness, and real-world applications across exploration, interpretation and decision support. Designed for students and professionals, the course provides a practical roadmap on where to start and how to apply AI responsibly in geoscience workflows.
Join the GSSA for a multi-speaker session that builds essential people-centered professional skills, including communication, teamwork, leadership, adaptability, and problem-solving, helping early-career geoscientists stand out in today's industry.
This practical course is tailored for geologists, geotechnicians, and exploration professionals aiming to strengthen the essential connection between drilling field operations and geological interpretation. The course will cover the exploration workflow, including drilling methods, onsite supervision, logging, sampling, and sample handling, as well as analytical techniques, QA/QC, data integration, and results interpretation. Enrol in this exciting one-day course led by industry professionals with extensive experience in the exploration field.
This online course by Natalie Brand explains how ethical behaviour, guided by professional codes of ethics and the ability to balance competing values, is essential to being a true professional in the mining industry.
The 2026 Lichtenburg Diamond Fields Centenary will be marked by a two-day geology conference in Pretoria and a two-day field excursion, celebrating a century of discoveries, geological research, and heritage associated with the region's significant diamond deposits.
This is a 2-day integrated course involving both lectures and field work on the complexly deformed high grade metamorphic rocks of the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast. Participants will be instructed on how to observe, describe, map, measure and analyse ductile structures as well as superimposed deformation. The aim is to be able to produce a geometrically constrained 3D reconstruction and to unravel the sequence of structural events recorded in the rocks. The factors that control the development and progressive deformation of ductile structures will be explained.
This two-day training course introduces geoscience students and practising professionals to the theory and application of GeoData Science and machine learning. A strong background in mathematics or previous knowledge of machine learning is not required to undertake this course. It is pitched at an introductory level to help you understand modern GeoData management, automate routine tasks and visualise data to gain insights. Speaker : Glen Nwaila

AES aims to provide an opportunity for professionals in the industry to be informed about new African exploration projects and current developments. It is an ideal opportunity to learn more about deposits that could potentially add significant economic value to the continent's pipeline. Our speakers are from major and junior mining companies, and from large consulting companies to independents, which should ensure an interesting event.
