MINSA excursion to the Selfrag and Micro-XRF laboratories, UP, Sunday, 30 July, 2017
MINSA is hosting an excursion to the Selfrag and Micro-XRF laboratories situated in the Stoneman building of the University of Pretoria on Sunday the 30th of July, 2017.
To those of you not familiar with these technologies…Selfrag is a machine that can disaggregate mineral grains from rocks (virtually entirely liberated) through electric pulses. Micro-XRF bridges the analytical worlds of SEM-EDS analysis and XRF, being the X-ray analog of beam instruments that can spatially map a sample.
All members who attend are invited to bring along a sample that they would like Micro-XRF’ed and/or a sample they would like Selfragged…the excursion leaders will then pick the samples they consider the best to demonstrate the capabilities of the various machines.
We will also be hosting a bring-&-braai social afterwards for those wanting to get to know other members a little better.
Please RSVP your attendance by 23rd July by replying to this email
